RACE INFORMATION

This is event begins and ends at The Lodge at Angel Fire Resort at Angel Fire, New Mexico. The course is a variable turnaround loop of single track trails, jeep & gravel roads, hills, valleys mountain trails and scree fields. The runners have the option at sign up to enter a 25K, 50 K, 50 Mile, 100 K or 100 mile race. The time cutoff for the event is 32 hours.

THE DETAILS

Event begins Saturday, June 17th 2017 | 5:00am

Registration for 2017 Event Opens on January 5, 2017 at 12:01 am and Closes at 12:01 am on June 1, 2017 (CDT) or as the event fills!

Current plans for the event include

Application will be made in the near future to host the USATF/MUT National Championships at the 50 mile distance.

Launch of a 200 mile Gravel Grinder Mountain Bike Race as well as an Olympic Distance Triathlon at some point in the future.

All Events are held in the Village of Angel Fire, New Mexico.

Athletes have their choice of a 100 Mile, 100K, 50 Mile, 50K and 25K distances. The event is staged on a technical trail with dirt, rocks, roots, and depending on the weather, maybe a little mud as well as back country gravel roads with some skree fields to boot. Please see Schedule page of the site for the current event schedule.  

Parking

Parking is provided near the race site in the Blue parking lot at the Resort. 

Aid Stations

There will be two staffed aid stations located on the course. The main event aid stations will have the usual ultra fare, including sweet and salty snacks, sandwiches, hot soup or broth, noodles, water, Gatorade, soda and more.

In addition, there are also 2 un-staffed aid stations at locations on the course.

Athlete Special Needs, Gear, Crews, etc

Athletes may place their drop bags at a special location at both aid stations.  Please notify Race Directors of Special Needs.

Pacers are allowed in the 100 mile event after the runner has completed 50 miles. Pacers are required to sign the event waiver. Crews are allowed and can crew anywhere on the course as long as they do not hinder other runners.

Runners also may encounter a variety of wildlife, including bear, coyote, deer and elk, and should be mentally and physically prepared for the experience. A bear guide will be in your race packet.

Volunteers are encouraged and welcome.

Awards

Distance/Time Certificate and Event Challenge Coin will go to all 25K finishers

Distance/Time Certificate, Event Challenge Coin & Special Hand-Made Event Award will go to all 50K, 50M, 100K  finishers

Distance/Time Certificate, Event Challenge Coin & Event Belt Buckle will go to all 100M finishers

Special Hand-made event awards will go to the top three finishers at each distance:

  • Male & Female
  • Masters Male & Female

RESULTS

Will be posted after the event
